As oil pipeline politics played out in East Africa – Belgium gets ready to inaugurate their beer pipeline

Kenya government is still licking their wounds; this after Uganda picked the Tanga Port in Tanzania for its oil pipeline route. However, in Bruge Belgium, their pipeline transports beer.

De Halve Maan a Bruge’s brewery in Belgium, came up with an innovative way to reduce bottlenecks and get their trucks off the cobblestone streets. The brewery is busy constructing a pipeline to reduce traffic in its historic centre. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its canals and medieval architecture. The pipeline will transport 5,700 litres of beer an hour. The project was started four years ago and it is close to completion.

The brewery has notified residents, that it would be impossible to illegally tap into the polyethylene tubes, which is stronger than steel. Sure, maybe in Europe.
