Botswana probes Transnet’s $16 million deal

Botswana authorities are investigating a R250 million  ($16.3 million) corruption charge involving Transnet South Africa. Botswana claims that some of the coaches delivered aren’t new, with one of the trains breaking down in Francistown, at the launch of the BR Express, a luxury passenger service. Transnet Engineering was awarded the contract to deliver 37 new coaches to Botswana Railways, with 22 delivered in March. Transnet has high hopes on sub-Saharan African growth. The company denies the charge.
