ADB approves USD 245 million loan for Uganda and Uganda road projects

The African Development Bank (ADB) approved a USD 245 million loan for infrastructure projects in Uganda and Rwanda. This includes a 24 kilometre expressway between Kampala (Busega) and Mpigi on the Northern Corridor, and 208 km road (Kagitumba-Kayonza-Rusumo) in Eastern Rwanda. The road construction will be completed in 2½ years.

The average travel time from Kampala-Busega to Mpigi will be reduced from one hour to 20 minutes, and in Rwanda, the average travel time on the Kagitumba-Kayonza-Rusumo road will be reduced from six to three hours.
