Aramex, has invested US $2.94 million in a Series B funding round with what3words. The startup is an address system based on a global grid of 57 trillion 3mx3m squares, available in more than a 170 countries. Each square has a unique pre-assigned 3-word address, that can assist anybody trying to track down a specific location. By making use of words instead of GPS coordinates, non-technical people can easily find and communicate any location.
Aramex plans to use the what3words address system in its last-mile delivery system across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. According to what3words, around 75% of the global population suffers from inadequate addressing, leaving them outside of the growing ecommerce economy, or unable to receive aid.
