Kenya’s Sendy is piloting drone deliveries – Nairobi traffic too unpredicatble

Nairobi’s gridlock traffic has some companies looking at the skies. The Kenyan e-courier startup Sendy, is piloting last-mile drone deliveries in the Kenyan capital. According to a Distrupt Africa article, the company “spent more and more hours…trying to solve this challenge.” Particular during the rainy season, Nairobi’s creaking infrastructure is unable to cope with congestion, substantially increasing delivery times. Traffic accidents and blocked roads also increase the pain points for any last-mile delivery service. Beyond its Nairobi base, Sendy also operates in the industrial town of Thika and the Lake Victoria port city of Kisumu.
