Yebo Fresh raises R78m to expand in South African townships

Yebo Fresh, a South African grocery ordering platform serving low-income township communities, has raised R78m ($4.5m) in its latest funding round, led by Enza Capital and supported by Elea Foundation, Harvest, and E4E Africa. Launched in 2018, the startup provides a low-data ordering platform for groceries, which are delivered within 24 hours through local township agents.

Yebo Fresh operates in 25 townships around Cape Town and Johannesburg and works with over 6,000 businesses. The new funds will be used to expand into new product categories and markets, upgrade systems and warehousing, and explore partnerships with strategic players.
